About the gallery
Three photographs of people at work and in ritual: a carpet repair workshop and the House of Poems in Shiraz, and the Ashura mourning ceremony in Kashan.
In the workshop the aim was to hold the spirit of life of the place and of the people who work there, the same spirit carried by every carpet brought in to be repaired. At the House of Poems, visitors write a poem, their own or a favourite one, and hang it on the wall. The Ashura ceremony is seen from the ceiling of the Timcheh Amin od-Dowleh, in the Kashan bazaar.
