02 The place
The Timcheh, or Timche-ye Amin od-Dowleh, is a small caravanserai in the Bazaar of Kashan. It consists of small roofed spaces that were mainly used for selling luxury goods, such as Persian carpets, in the Qajar era, and it is still in use today.
The photograph shows the unique, glorious ceiling of this structure.
03 In his words
After walking around the historic market of Kashan, which has a cultural and architectural significance of its own, and seeing a variety of shops selling rugs, gold, shoes and clothes, you reach the Timcheh. All around it there are shops selling rugs and historical artefacts, but the most amazing view is this ceiling, the one in the photograph.
Under the ceiling there is a big pond. I stood in the pond to take the photo, directly in the middle.
